The Community Crisis Center helps those in crisis due to domestic violence, sexual assault, or economic circumstances. We offer the following services: a 24-hour crisis hotline and information and referral; emergency shelter; individual and group counseling; medical, legal and welfare advocacy; emergency assistance with food, clothing, rent and utilities; and transitional housing. FISH offers a variety of emergency social services to anyone who requests help. FISH maintains a free food pantry and clothes closet in the basement of the Downers Grove Township building at 4340 Prince Street in Downers Grove. On an emergency need basis FISH is able to provide local transportation assistance through volunteer drivers to doctor and dental appointments, therapy, court dates, and public aid offices. FISH is able to provide limited financial assistance for utility bills (except phone), housing and car repairs.

Includes all or portions of 9 incorporated towns: Burr Ridge, Clarendon Hills, Darien, Downers Grove, Hinsdale, Westmont, Willowbrook, and a small portion of Oak Brook, Woodridge and unincorporated Lemont. The General Assistance program provides monthly financial service for people attempting to enter or re-enter the work force. Also, the program provides financial assistance to people who have a pending Social Security Disability application. If approved for financial assistance, certain medical care may also be provided. This program is designed for people who have no income. Emergency Assistance is offered to township residents who may have a pending applicaton or are not eligible for Public Aid or General Assistance, but are faced with a financial emergency. The program is designed for people who meet the income guidelines. Help with utilities, rent and food is available. The GA office also takes applications for the LIHEAP program. LIHEAP is help with heating bills during the winter season. A one time payment will be made directly to both heating and electricity suppliers to help qualified households. The program runs from September to the end of May. We also offer referrals to other agencies that may help. Downers Grove Township is now an intake / enrollment location for Access DuPage. Residents of the township can call our office for further information or to make an appointment. FISH, an all-volunteer ecumenical organization. provides a food pantry and clothes closet, located in the basement of the township office building.
