Almost Home Kids is a not-for-profit children's care center. Founded by parents of medically fragile children; this 10-bed facility is housed in a 4,000 square foot home set on 2 1/2 acres of land. It is the first of its kind in the nation and the only one in Illinois. It is recognized as a multidisciplinary model of excellence for the short-term clinical care of children who are medically fragile and who may also be technology-dependent. Children in the Respite Care program can be here for up to two weeks a year, and the 120-day Transitional Program serves as a bridge between hospital and home. The child-friendly decor and beautifully landscaped grounds make Almost Home Kids a wonderful "home-away-from-home." The Center is open seven days a week, 24-hours a day, so families may spend maximal available time with their child.

Provides high quality health care services for family members of all ages, including: school/sports physicals, sick care, well baby/child care, immunizations and TB testing, Attention Deficit Disorder Clinic, family planning, pregnancy testing, STD testing and treatment, HIV testing and referral, KidCare/Family Care enrollment services and social work services. In addition. 4 psychiatrists on staff working with children, adolescents and adults. Takes Medicaid, Private Insurance and All Kids for payment. Bilingual medical interpreters are available for psychiatric appoointments. The Crossroads Program is designed to prevent youth from entering the Juvenile Justice System by providing education in social skills, anger control, and moral reasoning.
